We're not in debt because of private companies.

We're in debt because the government is borrowing tens of trillions of dollars and is printing trillions more which lowers the value of our currency. The failure of private corporations is miniscule compared to the size of the US economy. It's like pissing in the ocean and calling it an ecological disaster.
