Well of course.
The thankfully small experiences I have had of living in and dealing with uncivil societies ahve been very meaningful and intense.
The threat of signing over your rights or going to jail is something one never forgets, even if you can laugh about it later.
And the stories told by people in private who have lived whole lives under such systems are unforgettable, if you care about freedom.
