"War" and images.

I missed the discussion on graphic images, but from what I can gather the decision was to allow links with warnings, no images.

I don't know how to post images, so that aspect doesn't affect me.

And I think the Space and Community Boards need to be protected from those.

I have a sense that some of the people on these boards who actually, in spite of the verbiage, think war is a good thing when there are other options could not maintain that view if they had the slightest idea as to what they were promoting. If they were in the military, they were not involved in any conflict, didn't see any of the slaughter, of the "collateral" damage which is integral to terrorizing the population in the name of "breaking resistance". And at which America is so very, very proficient.

War ISN'T killing Saddam Hussein. He is as irrelevant to the grand scheme of things as that other guy, GWB.

War IS causing untold suffering for people just like us. People who want to send their wives and children home, who want to get up, go to weddings, bitch about the weather.

Personally, if it were me, I'd be exactly like the GIs around Auschwitz - I'd drag each and every person on this board and elsewhere who promotes a war and rub their American, middle-class, soft and comfy noses in it and hold 'em there. I'd help them realize exactly what it is they are actually DOING, and to whom they are doing it. I wouldn't let them avoid the images of what they are doing.

Because these are basically kind folks. And what they are doing is cruel beyond belief. Obviously, beyond belief. They don't even want to see the pictures of the grief they cause.

One of 'em, with another cheering him on, suggested they got used to being killed, to having their husbands, wives, children, friends, neighbors, killed. Throw 'em a "goody" and they're find. So help me, I didn't make that up.

And much of the ROW is aware of the misery, grief, maiming America has chosen to inflict on people who were already in a world of hurt, and don't think much of people who want to kill, maim, and otherwise create misery and suffering.

Saddam wasn't nearly as bad as what is happening now. Not nice, and not nearly as bad as this.

Because, as the US will see, a good guy can't run those countries. We've seen that in the former Yugoslavia, we've seen it in Afghanistan, and the history of the area demonstrates that. The Iraqis will teach us that again. Well, we've never learned, so they will demonstrate it again.

Hell, even in what is hailed as a model Middle Eastern democracy, Israel, they have a war criminal running things. And it shows.

Too bad about the images. I'd make 'em look, and explain to their children and grandchildren why such suffering is a GOOD thing for Americans to be causing, and how the suffering people are being "liberated", and how they should be happy.

Because, unless one has a mind like a pretzel, it cannot be done.

That isn't to say Saddam isn't a very bad guy. He is, and it will be good to see him gone, AND the US is killing, maiming and generally brutalizing the same people Saddam is.

It ain't right.

Arf (and some of 'em will be tempted to tell us exactly what their wives know about war. Because they don't know - they just don't know.)
