It's all coming out wrong for him. The predicted disaster isn't happening, the Coalition is winning, and the people who predicted tens of thousands of civilian dead are having to blow a few hundred dead--nothing to be pleased about certainly--up into some kind of monstrous Holocaust.
If the Iraqis do eventually hold parades for us, or we actually do find caches of WMD and solid links between Iraq and Al Quaeda, the collapse will be complete.
Then he'll be in that state of mind where reality is only what fits his viewpoint. All the evidence will be "planted." All the positive Iraqi opinions about America will be "forced." Everything that happens will be part of Bush's vast conspiracy, probably in collusion with Israel, with the Vast New World Order thrown in somewhere.
How many times has he insisted that nothing at all positive is being done in Afghanistan despite constant evidence posted to the contrary?
I fear he may become the political equivalent of James, with his invisible, intangible glass moon domes that no amount of evidence could ever disprove to him, including astronauts flying right through where they were supposed to be.
And he's going to have a lot of company in Neverland, judging by some of the things I'm reading in the papers.
