Raoul's method of posting images is the one I've used so far, and it seems to work fine.
Some folks might not know how to get the URL for an image they see on a web site, so I thought I'd explain my method:
By "right clicking" on the image with your mouse (not sure how this applies to Mac's or other systems, but it works with the Windows versions I've used, and MS Explorer), you get a list that has, at the bottom, "Properties". Click on "Properties" and a new little window opens with info about the picture - one item of which is "Address (URL)". Just cut and paste the URL into your img src line and the picture should link and appear in your post.
Alternatively, from the Explorer window, you can click on "View" then "Source" and dig for the image URL there, but that can be kind of messy as you get all sorts of HTML code as well.
I think images can be .gif as well as .jpg, but almost all the ones you encounter will be .jpg
My 2 cents on the "make them look" issue: I know what you are getting at, Bowser, and I agree that people need to really see a situation before they can get a real idea of it's importance (or to make judgements about it) but I also agree with Robert - you can't really force people to do that kind of thing. Strongly encourage, maybe, but forcing anything usually engenders resentment and that would be counterproductive. As you have pointed out regarding the "liberation" of Iraq.
I haven't experienced war directly and I'm glad of that, but I appreciate the words of those who have in helping us to understand a little bit better. You are serving twice.
