Facts as seen by the ROW. GWB inherited a surplus, GWB cut taxes on the wealthy, and GWB increased the national debt and more borrowing.
I guess the facts are too tough. It sounds as if you are trying to deny reality. Say there was no surplus. That's fine, if that's what you want to believe.
Deny there was a tax cut for the wealthy. (Deny, too, that it was justified as there was a surplus. That's what they said.) You say there wasn't. You and Gates got the same tax break. (Try repealing the law they passed, and see what your fellow conservatives would have to say about that!!) If that's what you have to believe, go for it.
Next, say GWB doesn't want to increase the debt limit because they are spending a lot more than they are taking in. That would be just as reasonable as the above.
If that's what you have to do to maintain your belief system, go for it.
Next, as long as our minds are off into the fuzzy wuzzy, why don't we pay off the national debt by putting all our teeth under the pillow and asking that fairy to just send the bucks to the treasury. Maybe to NASA, "molars for Mars". That's as much reality as anything else so far.
There's Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny we can hit up for goodies, too. We'll be out of any financial problem in, maybe, three Christmases, three Easters, and a few million kids losing their teeth.
