This coyote deserves to have something nasty happen to him. It would be nice if he could be identified, and the information transmitted to other potential "customers" in Mexico. Maybe to relatives of this woman.

I suspect that this kind of thing is the exception rather than the rule.

The free market always works. An honest capitalist coyote would brag on the number of people successfully smuggled, and maybe even collect testimonials. His reputation would depend on his successes, not his failures. The pros are not the problem. Any informal business is going to collect hangers-on who will cheat, steal, and cut corners for a short-term profit.

I have read that the better coyotes only take money after a successful trip, although one would think that at the very least it would be some up front and some later.
