Well done. One further thought. The concept of "God" is an attempt by Man's ego to extend Man's importance and relevance over the Universe. Man's ego cannot tolerate the idea of being ultimately meaningless.
The Christian Bible says that God made Man in his own image. God made Man. Very special, that is. And not only made man but made Man in his image. That identification places Man at the left hand of God at the minimum. (One is left to wonder if He made Man in His image, does God live on another Earth somewhere, or what? How does that work?)
Next, God gave Man dominion over the Universe, or at least the known Universe at the time. In Christianity Man is not only relevant but has "dominion". That nails it.
Since nothing in those claims can be tested, let alone verified, they can stand and comfort those who need the validation and comfort of having an all-powerful parent helping them navigate an otherwise terrifying Universe. Which is much like the ocean, a presence which is neither caring nor uncaring, one which will provide a living but is ruthless if it's rules are violated.
