At first blush that sounds just fine. There may be more to the matter, however.
What is "God"? A manifestation of Man's imagination who lives in the spiritual dimension designed to relieve anxiety and give each Man meaning by creating a being with powers greater than Man's own..
What is the Universe? All that is physical.
I don't know how one would make the transition between the two unless "God" were redefined somehow.
Also, "God" has to be "spiritual" and interact with Man's "spiritual" nature, it must be something with which Man can relate one-to-one on a personal level, knowing God has taken in interest in him. I know some people will claim the Universe does that for them. They may be right, but upon watching them over time they are shams, attempting to be spiritually superior, an oxymoron.
