Who's blaming people?
The point is...AIDS gets FAR more than its share of $ for med research compared to other diseases, e.g. senile dementia. The money we'll spend on alzheimers patients as boomers turn into geezeroids is staggering. Since ~20% of the populace will be affected, why not spend more research here to reduce the suffering and reduce the expense on young working families. Progress has been good even at low $ funding. Let's do more here, now.
AIDS research has helped even in many non-AIDS related ways as does most research. But the AIDS lobby makes it look like they're underfunded (quite the contrary) and any questioning of this makes you a homophobe. Now, how can this be because today AIDS is mostly a hetero affliction?
