First thing EP.
I was once talking with a neutron star/high-energy astrophysics
dude (I make the distinction cause i'm more of a planetary science/geophysics type person) about x-ray astronomy and
WE came up with the idea that the moon would be a great place
for an x-ray telescope. Hey, if it's high enough resolution, you
could even get chemical composition of asteroids at a distance
....well, sorta......
Now, it was an independent idea and a cool one (at least I
thought so) but it probably wasn't the first. ANY astronomer
or person who would like to get data from astronomy that would
be made easier without that pesky atmosphere would think, hmm
where can I find a platform without such inconveniences. Sure, LEO
is ok if your into radiation(belts-solar(flares-CME)) and thermal
cycling. ***lightbulb*** The MOON! It's Sooo obvious, the biggest
damn thing in the sky for us earthlings, right?
Why then, in every post you make do you have to reiterate the
fact that you also had an independent idea, and a good one I'll
admit if not an obviously well worn one.
So please, just drop the whole NASA Langley stole MY idea bit,
ok? It will make your posts much easier to read.
And lets be honest with ourselves, anyone who is looking to get
some money into HEDS infrastructure on the moon (you and me)
will scream from hill and dale that the moon is the perfect platform
for this and that.....which it may be.
Hmm, that was longer than I intended. My next spiel will have
to wait..
