Grondine has better things to do with his time than encourage your escapist delusions.

Let me explain to you the real key to Mars: long range autononmous robotic rovers, which are able traverse at least several hundred kilometers on Mars.

And as Satchi's experience with Beagle shows, these do not necessarily have to be government financed, while asteroid and cometary protection does.
