Re: And my opinion . . .

<We had the Communists tell us that "Communism was the 'Truth"

Now we have the socialist atheists secular humanists doing the same thing.

“Now” we do?

Anyone of position with an axe to grind has always been right, and they have always insisted that everyone else was wrong, and they have always made it a point to let them know just how right they were and how wrong everybody else is.

It only seems more powerful today because of the accelerated medium, and the fact that every ignorant bastard on the face of this planet has instant access to my monitor.

I'm in favor of letting each individual decide on their own what they believe the truth is, however many people are afraid to let people decide for themselves lest they come to a conclusion they personally don't agree with.
Such fear is unbecoming.

This is not the issue. The issue is controlling -- and they do need to be controlled -- how the sciences are taught in public schools. I have no problem with analytical discussions of this type at high school level. By this time, a kid should have some idea of what makes the world tick. The problem lies in the confusion conflicting teachings bring to the younger students. There is no decision to make if all that exists is “because my teacher said so.”

As I stated on another board here, we do not send our children to public school just to have to correct what they are being taught.

You can't prove that life sprang from lifeless matter without any intelligence behind the process. You weren’t there, Neither was I, so your guess isn't any better than anybody else’s.

This holds an element of crankdom. By some miracle, life began. By some miracle, it evolved into you and I. By some miracle, we will likely never agree on that.

I have my reasons for believing in creationism and I want future generations to be able to decide if they share my view point as much as anybody else, but the little Hitlers want to silence everybody they don't agree with.

Hitler? Where’d that come from? I don’t recall ever marching anyone off to Auschwitz, just because they knocked on my door and handed me some pamphlet about lighthouses.

Besides, I don’t try to silence them. I just prefer not to listen. I like to put a tape in the machine Sunday mornings, because there’s really nothing on but a bunch of money-grubbing head-nodders bowing to the latest TV evangelist, and that’s just a little too upsetting for my delicate tummy.

Evolution is a faith just as much as any religion is, you believe it because you want to believe it.

Funny. Next you’ll be saying that religions are as much a science as evolution.

I'm not against giving people a choice, I can't say that about everybody else.

Good. I agree, though I would prefer they were given proper education so that such a choice could be made.

God knows, men wonder.

Well, since men built God, it’s no wonder they should wonder.

But that’s me,
Dan
