Hi, Dan...

"Intelligent design" pre-dates Darwin. At the time it was better known as the Argument from Design. The Roddenberryesque "Progenitor" myth (along with its derivatives) is either a smoke screen deliberately generated by creationists, or an accidental pairing of fundamental Genesis-believers with crop circle devotees.
