One Among Many?

I stand by both my appreciation for you doing something and by my disapproval of incomplete reporting. Your positive efforts certainly far outway any mistakes.

Care to explain why you did not mention the Mars Society? Failure to do something is certainly not Zubrin's problem. Responding constructively to criticism and doing what he thinks is best with little tolerance for dissent is. He is far from alone in this failure. It seems pretty common among leading space advocates.

I think this comes from the bunker mentality caused by all space advocates swimming against a tide of public apathy. Space advocates have a vision for humanity that seems so clear to them that the general public seems pathetically or willfully ignorant. They are so used to being on guard and defending their opinions that they jump into battle and bull ahead single mindedly even when dealing with people in general agreement. This is a recipe for failure and indeed is probably a big part of our lack of progress over the last 30 years.

Mark
