Where did we ever claim to be doing this?
If you are referring to the name "SETI Institute" and then drawing some conclusion form their name then you clearly know little of what they actually do. Pascal Lee has been at the SETI Institute for years. "SETI" is only a small part of what they do. They support all aspects of NASA's astrobiology programs as well as multiple astonomy and astrophysics projects such as SOPHIA.
