Yes, it does matter

There seems to be a good body of evidence that temperatures are warming*. The causes for that warming are very important. If they are human caused, then we can see what can be done to mitigate the damage. However, if the increased temperatures turn out to be purely caused by natural processes, then human activities might be no more than of a child pissing in the ocean causing the sea level to rise. You have to know the causes and effects.**

* Interesting enough, I saw a report a couple weeks ago indicating that cold ocean currents may be reducing the Gulf Stream. If true, then the long term prognosis might well be lower temperatures like they were predicting 25 years ago.

** I remember hearing a man discuss the Great East Coast blackout back in the 1960s. He was a child walking home at the time. Purely coincidentally, he threw a rock that struck a power pole at the exact instant the power went out. For years, he was convinced he caused the blackout. Cause and effect does indeed matter.
