Will lasers be effective in a few years as a weapon? YES. but the ABL is silly! Lasers are already able to destroy small rockets, I wish I had the link to the video....but I dont... I am not saying lasers cant be used militarily, just that the ABL is a waste of money.

By the way, the power requirements are HUGE! the motto in the laser industry is "we turn kilowatts into milliwatts" Efiiciency IS getting better, but it WILL take a lot of power to run a laser that is an effective weapon.... AND THEN we have the Geneva convention to consider...... Fire a laser that is an effective weapon, and any innocents near the target are blinded....Blinding weapons are forbidden by the geneva convention....I have never had eye damage from a laser, but the reports from those that have scare me to death! One fellow described it as looking at the world through a fisbowl of glycerin and blood....And he was hit by a mild laser.....

I keep his personal report as a safety precaution.... I am responsible to keep my co workers safe, I could not live If I blinded a co worker....

what I say makes no difference.... lasers as a weapon WILL occur, all I am saying is the ABL is not practical.....
