I find when it comes to slang, it should be used sparingly at best - usually to accentuate a point.
To hear someone butcher their way throughout language is a painful thing indeed, which is why most other countries don't take a kind look on visitors who do so.
This, of course, makes you wonder how we can botch the english language, and I suppose the answer is when the other person gets fed up with it.
