Re: Bedrock Fortification . . .

The region is fairly desolate, with tunnels dug into the mountainous terrain, many with not much more than a 3 to 5 foot clearance. The issue is that these holes may be thousands of years old, networking within the mountain. Digging the perps out would mean ferreting, sending in your tunnel rats one at a time. These passages will be heavily mined, many with remote or sensor detonators. In a pitch black hole, absolutely no fun at all.

In the beginning, it'll be by the book, with high casualties on both sides. As we improve, the book will be tossed, and ferreting will become an art. The mentality of the American soldier will need to change, from hero-to-be, to that of dead-man-walking. It'll be on borrowed time that they fight, and they'll know it -- they'll know it to the bone, and deeper. Their next tunnel may well be there last, and their bodies might not even be recoverable.

And when all is said and done, and they finally do return home to us, please keep this in mind -- take them into your heart. These will be the outcasts, the men and women who will be sacrificing sanity for a free world. The ones who cannot hold a job, simply because they cannot.

As for cell phones, they are easily disrupted, especially when you're the phone company.

No cake-walk expected,
Dan
