More recent information suggests that bin Laden and his associates have abandoned their cell phones and other modern communication gear. The Taliban claim they made him give up these devices, but it seems more likely to this observer that bin Laden was alerted to the risks inherent with electronic communications by ill-considered remarks from insiders here.
Bin Laden is now said to be using couriers for important communications, and there are reports that encrypted terrorist communications are contained in images and other elements of web sites, including pornographic ones.
