When gas prices go up, people buy smaller cars. When they go down, not so much. This doesn't need government to enforce it.
The anti-nuke movement was leftist. Period. I can document this if you need me to. Three-Mile Island was just a convenient wedge for them. They aren't going to allow nukes now, either.
There are a few Greens who support nuclear power. I can count the famous ones on one hand. Maybe two. There was never a pro-nuke "green" movement in the U.S. The first opposition to nuclear power began in the late 1950s, and the Sierra Club was part of it.
