<What is so difficult to understand about the US electoral system? Even a Brit can count up electoral college votes - it ain’t that difficult.
You should volunteer your expertise.
The only thing wrong with this article is the title - "Did Al Gore win after all?" since it is blindingly obvious he did not.
A better title is "Did more people express their preference for Al Gore over George Bush in the voting booth?", or even "Should Al Gore have won".
A better title would be, “If Gore was president, the UK wouldn’t be in Afghanistan at all!”
People can count and recount any way they like, it's over and we all have to deal with that. (IMHO, it was a statistical dead heat, but unfortunately the constitution does not allow for that.....)
Fortunately.
;^)
Shaking off our imperialism? Sorry, Dan, we shook that off after Suez and WW2. One lasting and beneficial effect of that old imperialism is that Brits are better informed and have a more global world view than the myopic populace and media of the US.
As long as it's believed, it must be so. Let me know when you're finished shaking it off. I still see a royal family. Is this to be a permanent fixture, or will they actually join the job force some time?
And since when did you automatically discount "undisclosed sources" in any of your postings?
Every time. What undisclosed source did I appear to back? My belief is that if it cannot be verified, it's merely point of view, or food for thought, not news. Investigative reporting is not for the publication of notes (the investigative process), but the publication of verified facts (the results of that investigation).
Anyway, the brunt of my attack was misdirected, and I do apologize, Tony. My aim was toward a certain Mr. Laurence, however I fired from the hip with a greener, and the pattern was far too wide. I’ll grease up my Browning next time.
Seems again that the advent of war brings out the worse in the people involved. Hopefully, a victory will rouse the best -- and I believe the faster this victory, the better we’ll all be. Just a little griped that we get all these “I know better” stories on this board (of all boards) that hold water like a sieve.
I’ll keep a civil tongue, and cheers back at’cha,
Dan
