and a host of other Axis cities had some terrible things to say about the US and Great Britian following our air attacks. Could you imagine if today's crop of reporters had been around back then? The Nazis would've have needed Joseph Goebbels to get their point of view out to the world had that been the case.
Sad fact - war kills people including innocent civilians. That's one very good reason to avoid having wars whenever possible. One of the few true things that the old 1960s hippies ever said was "war is harmful to children and other living things."
We are doing as much as possible to avoid civilian casualties but the sad fact remains that the military is no more perfect than any other human activity. It never ceases to amaze me that some people are so naive as to believe we can ever fight a "perfect" war where only the enemy gets hurt. People make mistakes, weapons malfunction, targets are wrongly identified, and innocent people die. Had we chosen to fight this war like we did WWII, Kabul and other Afghan cities wouldn't even exist any more.
