As I recall, Whitewater did not amount to a hill of beans - an inconvenient fact Kenneth Starr managed to avoid during his relentless pursuit and persecution of the Clintons, during which period the aforementioned sexual pecadillo WAS made into a federal case.
It is true that Mr. Starr and his get-Clinton-at-all-costs claque did manage to keep that issue on center stage during most of the Clinton presidency, while far, far more serious items begged the nation's attention, to say nothing of its lawmakers', and - dare I mention it - the media's.
Just to refresh your memory, the S&L debacle cost the taxpayers of this nation about $400 billion.
The cost of the Crooked E collapse has not yet been tallied.
Of course, these financial scandals pale in comparison to the former Chief Exec's tawdry affair with an intern.
