Re: Yes, it does . . .

Funny you should ask, since it obviously did. It was even rare enough to warrant being printed.

Has it occurred to you that the conference only happened because the media was there? It's their circus, not Ashcroft's. Washington offers, and the media jumps.

The parents were looking for assurances that justice would prevail, and this double homicide falls well within the jurisdiction of federal law, and the incarcerated suspect is a repeat federal offender. What better assurance could there be than to have the leader of the U.S. attorney general himself on hand to answer their questions?

I suppose he could have just sent in some lackey, but then there’s that issue of sleeping at night. This is obviously a sensitive man who cares about people, something I don't find surprising at all, though the media definitely seems to. Mixing religion and politics was what lit the Ashcroft fire when he took office, and it continues to smolder through every day of his new career. Should religious people not show compassion? Is it too un-cool for political leaders to stand up and say they care?

The media will continue to hound him, until they get tired of the fact that he playing them just as hard by toeing the line.

What is your argument, anyway?
