Re: Attack on Iraq

We both posted this article at the same time. "Great minds run in the same track - and fools think alike".

"Any guesses from anyone as to what this buys us?"

Well, lessee. The US is considering launching a first strike against a sovereign nation which doesn't threaten the security of the US. Is that what a great country does?

Well, there's history. Bush, Sr., attacked the sovereign nation of Panama to get Noreiga because he didn't like Noreiga. So, there's history on our side. The USSR attacked Afghanistan, and the Chinese Tibet, so it's not just us.

Why leak it? Because you couldn't keep it secret, for one. May as well.

Why do it? Because we can? Where do we stop? Do we invade France, because Le Pen got 19% of the vote in an election? France has WMD.

Well, as I said in my post, the only reason to do this, to sacrifice the lives of American kids, is for the same reason GWHB invaded Panama. Noreiga was an embarrassment - he had been on the payroll of Bush Sr.s CIA. Saddam has been an embarrassment to Bush Sr., and Junior will avenge him with American lives and American treasure.

As I said, maybe Sr. would take a Shuttle ride instead. Would leave a lot of American parents happier.
