Re: Now see

Cripes, sometimes you pile it on so thick it's almost too much work to show that you're full of meadow muffins. Almost.

...First, Tom had posted a complaint a while back complaining about the Democrats raising soft money after pushing through the campaign finance reform bill.

I was trying to point out to Tom that his post regarding GWB raising $33 million didn't mention that he thought it was unfair when the Democrats did it. I was just trying to say that fair should be fair.

The Democrats pushed a bill, over the battered bodies of Republican legislators, that would make a certain method of fundraising illegal. The reason: they said this method of fundraising was wrong, evil, and corrupt. Then they chose to put off the enactment of this law until after the election. This is like making a law against picking pockets, but putting off enforcement until you've collected enough wallets and purses to buy that new car you need. Any child could see that this was rank moral hypocricy.

That Bush signed the bill stunk, and he lost a lot of the moral high ground he could have held on this matter.

The next comment was on what I thought was amusing, our President using a picture of his so-called courageous leadership when actually he was hiding, scurrying around the country, being anywhere but where it was "at". He learned that during the Vietnam war, hiding in an airplane wherever the action wasn't.

At the time, no one was sure how many attack planes were in the air (hindsight is wonderful), and frankly, the President is SUPPOSED to protect himself in an attack. That's what the Secret Service is for, and the bomb shelters near the White House. Hell, Cheney is STILL squirreled away somewhere. This is policy, not cowardice. Like Al Gore would have been standing shirtless on top of the Capitol Dome with a couple of pearl handled revolvers, shooting at planes...

And the last part was pointing out that right after he signed a bill giving large businesses $180 Billion of yours and my money in subsidies over the next 10 years, all he got was $33 million. I thought that wasn't much, but then, what's he worth?

Okay, hang on while I heft this 200 lb. dead sturgeon.......Okay, come over here...stand right there....now. A tax cut (WHAP!) is NOT (WHAP!) repeat NOT (WHAP) a SUBSIDY! It is businesses keeping (SHLAP!) their OWN GODDAM MONEY! (SCHPLAP! plop.)

Crap. Sturgeon sort of comes apart after a few good whacks. Maybe next time I should use a frozen one...
