All politicians know that dignifying stupid questions with any form of answer only leads to even more stupid questions. How many times have you heard someone say, "I'm not going to dignify that with a response."? I've heard it countless times from politicians from both parties. Here's just one example. I can easily find others.
Think about it from a practical point of view. Given the bloody nature of contested elections, don't you think that through 3 elections, if ANY evidence existed anywhere that Bush used coke, someone in the Democrat Party or the Press (redundant) would've been able to find it and break the story? Look, they found a DUI report that was what, 20 years old, and broke it the weekend before the election. If there was any evidence, be it from someone who sold coke to him or did it with him or saw him do it, it would've come out. While absence of proof isn't proof of absence, the very lack of any evidence over 3 elections strongly suggests that the allegation just isn't true.
