As I mentioned somewhere up above this, it's a PC America, and everyone is tying to please everyone.
ain't gonna happen, no matter how hard they try.
Just out of curiosity, who gets to decide what a "legitimate issue" is?
I would imagine a politically balanced panel.
A month of political "silence" wouldn't bother me at all, if it applied to everyone. The problem is that only some people are being silenced, and if you check out the list of those who are not affected by this law--primarily the mainstream media and their commentators--you start to get the picture. Why do you think the press supported this law so fervently? You would think the loss of ad income would have been a factor, but it didn't seem to be.
Don't know that the media was all gung-ho about the issue or not, and I personally feel that certain "talk shows" ought to be considered special interest groups. i have no issues with news affiliates handling genuine articles involving candidates and issues, as this would be where a lot of undecided voters would get their last minute pointers.
"... late night comedy monologues ..."
Hmm-m...
Seems there might be an issue here -- if the kammic just wasn't funny...
