if two people can't pool their resourses and together run an advertisement supporting or attacking a political candidate or a political policy then our country is in trouble.

I can run an ad on my own I suppose? I don't know, I haven't read the law, but if I accept a donation from my next door neighbor, and together we run an ad opposing the new interstate that is planned for our back yard, then we are a special interest group and must be silenced less we weild to much influence on our coruptable local congressmen...

If people don't see the 1st amendment infringement there then they are really out to lunch.
