we had the Camp David accords - negated by Sharon with Reagan's tolerance
we had the Rabin plan - ended by Rabin assassination by expansionist fanatics
we had the attacks on Clinton, with Falwell's help...
the expansionists waited til Bush Jr got into office, and then enjoyed his plicy of "benign neglect" (yeah, right)
a major dirver of anger against the US is the US's toleration of Israel's expansion,
a policy which is not supported by about 70% of the US population
and 50% of Israeli population
and the US is nearly entirely (if not completely) isolated in this tolerance;
this isn't a festering wound, it's a 'efing hemorage...
the Israeli expansionists are just playing a delaying game,
waiting for the anger to explode into another attack against the US,
or a major attack against Israelis,
and then they will expand again...
and the moslem world gets more and more warped,
and our foreign policy gets more and more convoluted...
how many other driect threats to the Us are there? China is reforming, seeking mutual agreed to re-unification
N. Korea & S. Korea both working toward re-unification, N. Korea seeking aid for nukes
nations formerly in USSR now quietly evolving
Pakistan/India might go up, but we would not be involved except that Israel is now India's ally
which could turn this one into a real 'efing mess
But what happens if most of the threat (Israel/Palestinian) goes away?
without defense justification and spending, hollowness of US economy becomes apparent...
you do not break your unions by destroying your manufacturing sector...
and if you talk about any of this you get labeled anti-semetic, or "self-hating", or some other nonsense
and just try to find out where your candidates stand on any of this - good luck, they keep it hid from most of us...
this thing is splitting both parties, on a bi-partisan basis - dems probably hit worse, but
you get the feeling you're just along for the ride, whatever the hell happens...
economic chaos, foreign plicy chaos, and add in moral chaos...
