You bet it is! I've learned more useful stuff from this one thread than pretty much anything else all week. I've always admired those who have an encyclopedic knowledge of history, the lack of which I consider one of the big holes in my own intellectual makeup (although the Internet helps on details)
While those who do not know history are "condemned to repeat it," we also have to be careful not to try to draw too close a comparison between different eras. History never repeats itself exactly the same way twice.
