We've had early voting on the books for several years. It works well. Our early voting polls opened at 3 locations last Monday. Over 800 people voted on the first day. They'll be open all next week as well. One of the 3 locations is close to home, so voting early is easier than voting on election day. I get to work by 7 AM every morning and I teach a programming class on Tuesday evenings, so not having to wait until election day was wonderful.
BTW: we use the touch screen system for early voting because of the number of different ballots across districts. I can't imagine a simplier or easier system for voting. Those elections officials in Florida that reported problems must be really incompetitent. But then, the problems were only a couple counties controlled by Democrat elections officials (who also had problems in 2000).

Colorado law allows for voting before election day.
