To fix the problem they need more than $5,000 fines

I wonder if the DNC eventually reimbursed her for the $5,000.

The fines need to be much bigger. And they need to be aimed at the parties and the candidates themselves so that they have a stake in self-policing the elections.

If an individual acting as an agent of a corporation was caught polluting the environment, then that corporation would be fined. When an agent of a political party is caught polluting the election process, then that political party needs to be fined.
