Not only did Florida spend millions on new voting technology, they allocated a lot of money for training the poll workers and elections officials. From what I read in Florida newspapers following the primary election, the counties where they had problems in setting up and operating the machines skimped on training the poll workers. Whose fault is that? They also had enough training computers to educate the voters, but if the poll workers weren't properly trained, how could they train the voters?
As an aside, my wife is pretty computer phobic. I can hardly get her to touch our computer. The only problem she had with the touch screens was that the text was pretty small and hard to read on some of the ballot initiatives.
