The shooting in Tucson was perpetrated by a hispanic male, nursing student.

While I suppose he could have been an NRA member...I seriously doubt it.

Being the first stop upon the illegal border crossers trail - Tucson is slowly edging more liberal than Phoenix. But gun ownership is a way of life that goes back a century and a half in the state.

That CBS story is a total distorted slant. You can see the literary license taken by the journalist to create a "rally" of anti-NRA folks.

Here's another slant:

Notice the AP story avoids the description of "nursing college" in their description - so as to convey the idea of a gun crazed NRA student killing liberal "professors" - evoking fear in leftist colleges and professors across the nation

A liberal, hispanic democrat killing his nursing college professors doesn't have quite the same global impact desired.

After all after having two high profile minority snipers is bad enough, we wouldn't want to add another minority killer to the list - horrors! - better to omit some details and pass him off to the unsuspecting readers as a white male Arizona NRA gun fanatic - you know the classic white supremacist, stereotypical "gun nut" Mary Anne says is lurking in the back corner of every gun show she attends.
