Americans?
The fractious, argumentative, dynamic, ornery, imaginative, stubborn, insular people we are?
I hope you weren't hoping for unity, Ed! ;)
I think most people will be pleased with effective, reasonable and honorable.
I think the Republican Party just got its license to drive the family car, and if it gets reckless and tries to beat the train at the crossing, even should everyone live, Mom and Dad will take the keys away.
I mean it: everything for the next two years will be the Republicans' fault. Perfection is the only option there is.
As for the Democrats: if this doesn't shake the leadership to its senses, it will go down the tubes. Then look for a split in the Republican party, and a revitalized liberal wing.
Wait and see.
