<Maybe he's gravely injured (we all know already that he was chronically ill) and is conducting his business from a concealed medical facility. That lack of mobility would not be a good thing to advertise.
This is also a valid scenario, one I hadn't thought of. However, I still stand by my reasoning on the rest.
