<"Article 15: The liberation of Palestine, from an Arab viewpoint, is a national (qawmi) duty and it attempts to repel the Zionist and imperialist aggression against the Arab homeland, and aims at the elimination of Zionism in Palestine. Absolute responsibility for this falls upon the Arab nation - peoples and governments - with the Arab people of Palestine in the vanguard."
Well...I don't see at all any reference to the "total and absolute extinction of Israel," but I do see an attempt to spin the language of the PLO charter. Lacking an Arabic linguist to settle this...
There'd be no reason to lie about the translation, since anyone could check it.
I suppose you could go to an unbiased Palestinian website, where the translation reads:
"Article 15: The liberation of Palestine, from the Arab viewpoint , is a national (qawmi) duty to repulse the Zionist, Imperialist invasion from the great Arab homeland and to purge the Zionist presence from Palestine. Its full responsibility falls upon the Arab nation, peoples and governments, with the Palestinian Arab people at their head."
Or maybe this one from the Palestinian Ministry of Information:
"Article 15: The liberation of Palestine from the Arab view point is a national duty to repulse the Zionist, imperialist invasion from the great Arab homeland and to purge it from the Zionist presence. This full responsibility falls upon the Arab nation, peoples and governments, with the Arab Palestinian people at their lead."
I guess it's up to you to decide what they mean. Surveys show most Palestinians think it means getting rid of Israel. No map or physical description of Palestine on any of their web sites includes Israel in any way.
As for Article 24, I think most objective observers can judge for themselves how well that is followed, even when one is discussing the treatment of Palestinian people by their government.
