<The natural--almost kneejerk--response of some people is to FORCE Americans to eat the right foods (since they are obviously too stupid to make the right decisions on their own) or FORCE restaurants to provide the foods these people think "society" ought to eat, but we're not living in a country like that. Yet.
...we could just let the free market take its course and allow health insurers to refuse coverage to the obese and put murderously high premiums on their policies for the fat. The obese would die and the fat would have to choose: food or health insurance. They'd lose weight or go the way of their obese neighbors.
McDonald's could do business as usual. People would start calling their products "coffin burgers" and "deepfried homicide".
Graveyards would have a supersize section. Well, they're going to have that anyway.
