The "consumer as helpless victim" is a useful fiction to increase government power. I see it used a lot. It's especially useful when the "victims" are kids.
My kids see a lot of fast food ads, but they still only eat what I let them eat. When I was a kid, Fred Flintstone was selling cigarettes. Somehow I never took up smoking.
Don't eat the goddam french fries, and don't feed them to your kids. Where's the problem here? Unless you just can't stand it if somebody else decides to eat the fries.
You want to see health problems, check out any nation where the government has absolute power. Now go protect your own family, and leave the rest of us alone.
