And I know the man in question, I know he is no racist and he has a life of achievement to prove it. In point of fact, Thurmond is no racist. He has been well respected by many people for a long time.
But Trent was flat out wrong.
It would be the equivalent of, at a retirement banquet for a school board trustee, to bring up an old dwi or affair he had many many years before.
Even worse, a dwi where maybe a kid was injured in drunken wreck.
Thurmond is a great man and has accomplished much throughout his very long life.
To bring up the bad thing he did long ago and try and make it look good is unfair to the man, his memory and those who he offended.
I do believe Trent will move past this and rebuild his hard earned credibility.
I frankly hope he does.
