I am apparently an attractor. If there's salmonella in the room, it finds my plate. I've gotten a couple of other bacterial infestations over the years, too.

No one has ever gotten food poisoning in my kitchen because illness has educated me.

I have never gotten it from sushi, but I never eat raw fish, or steak tartare, either, for that matter. The last time I got sick from something raw, it was uncooked beaten egg whites folded into a pudding at a 4-star restaurant.

Frankly, I'm more worried about handwashing and surface cleaning routines at restaurants than anything else.

Another restaurant whose food made me sick was the Top of the World, at the WTC. The flight to Philly the following morning was no fun at all. But I'd get sick all over again if it would erase the last year and a half.
