When in Israel, I met with girls who were not at all happy to have to join the army when they reach 18. They would rather seduce westerners (supposedly loaded with money) and emigrate to their countries.
But, well, most young girls do end up at the army. Sometimes, their job is to guard a few hundred settlers living illegaly right in the middle of thousands of Palestinians. And then, attacks happen.
The problem is that those settlers cannot ,for religious reasons, defend themselves with weapons.
So, the regular army is required and even though many soldiers don't like being occupant, they have to follow the orders.
The problem is that the Israeli government is encouraging this.
The problem is that the US is encouraging the Israeli government.
All these middle-east problems just to satisfy a few hundreds jewish religious fanatics.
