Hydrogen distribution issues
An informative if brief article can be found here. Using existing natural gas distribution systems to distribute hydrogen is addressed.
One issue that makes a hydrogen economy attractive is that ideally the gas can be transported across great distances without the resistance losses that transporting electricity on wires involves.
I have not yet seen a real tradeoff between power lines over long distances, with the losses involved, with hydrogen pipelines, that need pumps and other energy-using systems. I'd like to think the hydrogen would come out on top, especially if it could be stored at the destinations.
