The best short-term solution would be to ramp up safe nuclear plants. This is not getting nearly the attention it needs, while we use thirty-year-old technology for existing nuclear facilities.
Renewable electricity sources can be phased in. The reason some major aluminum manufacturers, which need a lot of electricity as well, are located in the Northwest is to be close to the hydroelectric resources there.
