Since oil is only used for about 3% of electrical production...
the more likely choices will be natural gas or coal. "Green" sources would be poetically fitting but they're still not really cost effective. Perhaps that will change. Nuclear power, especially with the new generation reactors, would be a more efficient option but given the reflexive reaction of some against anything nuclear, it seems less likely.
