The number of dictators, tyrants, and power-crazed lunatics throughout history that have responded in any useful way to the "political process" can be counted on one hand. Most of them gleefully exploit the dupes who offer negotiations and compromises in order to eventually hand said dupes their own heads on a platter later on.
