I've got a magazine with a subject "Lies that lead to war" which returns back to wars from the past and citing all kinds of lies from either side. Either minister declarations, exagerations, journalistic disinformation, etc...
There are even examples of the battle of Poitiers, Roncevaux! Going back quite far!

War always induces lie. Which means, a contrario, that to fight against a lie, is to fight against war.
